Chronic Lyme Awareness and Support
"Ribbons Across America"
S.L.A.M.
Sturbridge Lyme Awareness of Massachusetts
S.L.A.M. has a goal to work toward awareness of Chronic Lyme disease and support to those affected. S.L.A.M. is actively working with state legislators to bring forth legislation for better testing and treatment of Lyme disease. A focus to make 2 standards of care available (IDSA and ILADS) is key to allowing patients to have a choice in their treatment. Physician education is necessary to allow for 2 standards of care and legislation is likely necessary to allow this change. We ask for your support in legislation that has the full support of the Lyme community!
Awareness is key to making this all happen so we have introduced "Ribbons Across America" which is a campaign asking businesses and homes to hang lime green ribbons for the month of May (Lyme Disease Awareness Month). "Ribbons" serves to raise awareness and to remember those who have lost their battle with tick borne illnesses. .
S.L.A.M. invites you to view the link below to "Under Our Skin" which is an award winning documentary telling of the personal and political issues of Chronic
Lyme Disease. S.L.A.M. also suggests online support sites that allow you to contact others dealing with the same issues. These sites are a great source of information for those searching for answers and a way to express their concerns.
